Powder coating consists of finely ground colored plastic that is applied to metal and baked, so that it melts into a hard gel color.
Powder Coating is used on automobile parts, Bicycles, and "whiteware" appliances.

The process of applying a powder coating is time consuming.
First we media blast the project to a bare metal finish and then hand sand any rough spots that may have been missed. All of the dust from this process must be removed before we can lay on the primer.
After this we apply a coat of zinc rich primer, applied through a special spray gun which electrostatically clings to the metal creating a thermoplastic layer. This primer helps seal the metal to prevent rust. Then we bake everything in our oven at 400 degrees until it sets.
After it cools, we hand sand again to remove any dust or imperfections before applying the color / texture of the customer's choice. The color is applied the same way as the primer but depending on certain factors it may be baked longer. If a gloss finish is desired, we apply the gloss powder and bake it again.
